Overview
Walking into Pacific Eatery & Catering for the first time, the vibe felt relaxed and familiar, the kind of neighborhood diner where regulars are greeted with a nod and newcomers are quickly made comfortable. Tucked away at 4514 Kenny Rd #B, Columbus, OH 43220, United States, it’s one of those places people recommend quietly, almost like a secret they don’t want to lose. I stopped in during a busy lunch hour and watched the small team move with purpose, calling out orders, checking plates, and still finding time to chat with guests.
The menu leans into Pacific-inspired comfort food, blending island flavors with Midwest sensibility. Think hearty rice bowls, grilled meats, fresh vegetables, and sauces that actually taste like someone made them that morning. I ordered a teriyaki chicken plate, and what stood out immediately was the balance. The chicken was tender, not drowned in sauce, and paired with rice that soaked up flavor without turning mushy. A staff member mentioned they prep marinades in small batches, which lines up with what food researchers from organizations like the USDA emphasize about freshness and flavor retention in cooked proteins. You can taste that care in every bite.
What really impressed me was consistency. I came back a week later, this time for an early dinner, and ordered a different plate with grilled salmon. Same generous portions, same clean flavors. That kind of repeatable quality is hard to pull off, especially for a diner that also handles catering orders. According to industry data from the National Restaurant Association, restaurants that maintain consistent preparation methods tend to score higher in customer satisfaction, and it shows here in the steady stream of positive reviews from locals.
Speaking of reviews, most people mention the same things: friendly service, fair prices, and food that feels both filling and thoughtful. One regular I chatted with told me they order catering trays for office lunches because everything travels well and still tastes good hours later. Catering can be tricky since food quality often drops off-site, but their process seems dialed in. Trays are packed carefully, sauces are kept separate when needed, and reheating instructions are clear. That level of detail builds trust, especially for customers ordering for groups.
The location itself is easy to miss if you’re not looking, but once you know it’s there, parking is simple and the dining room stays comfortable even during rushes. There’s no overdesigned décor, just clean tables and a layout that makes sense for both dine-in and takeout traffic. For a casual eatery, that practicality matters more than flashy design.
I did notice that the menu isn’t massive, which might feel limiting if you’re craving endless options. Still, that smaller selection likely helps them focus on doing a few things really well. From a food safety standpoint, limited menus also reduce waste and improve ingredient control, something the CDC often points to as a best practice in small food operations.
Overall, the experience feels honest. There’s no attempt to be trendy or overcomplicated, just solid food, a clear identity, and a team that knows what it’s doing. Whether you’re grabbing a quick lunch, reading through reviews before trying a new spot, or planning catering for a gathering, this diner fits naturally into the Columbus food scene without trying too hard.

This place is one of the best Chinese restaurants in Columbus, Ohio, especially if you are looking for Dongbei Cuisine or Hunan Cuisine. After their brand new renovation, the vibe of the restaurant has improved drastically. Their food is top notch with rich flavors and well-done presentation! What’s better, I have been here so much that the host has recognized me and my family when we dine here; this has a great local restaurant atmosphere that brings this restaurant to the next level. I do feel that sometimes service could be better, but there is always room for improvement! I hope you can try this restaurant out some time!
Came here on a recommendation and it did not disappoint! Very yummy food. Will definitely be going back again and again now.
This place has become an authentic Chinese restaurant, specializing in spicy and northeastern Chinese cuisine. Highly recommend their spicy liver slices, stinky tofu, rib hotpot, and beef soup. The liver tastes fresh and perfectly matched with spicy sauce and rice. Their spicy level is much higher than normal levels. They always put a lot of salt in the dishes. I may tell them to add less salt next time. WiFi is fast.
This restaurant is absolutely worth a visit! It serves both Hunan and Northeastern Chinese cuisine, and every dish is full of authentic flavor. The portions are generous, the taste is amazing, and the environment is clean and comfortable. The staff are friendly and attentive. Perfect for family gatherings or dining out with friends — highly recommended!
